​Khayria Refaat is an independent Saudi Art Curator & Writer. Born in Jeddah, 1998. Currently based in Riyadh. Khayria is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Museum Studies at SOAS, University of London, with a focus on curation and accessibility practices. Holding a bachelor's degree in Public Relations from King Abdulaziz University’s Faculty of Media & Communication, and a certificate in Curatorial Practice from IESA Arts & Culture Academy.
My Story
I was into art since the day I was born, but my journey with art started in a museum in 2019, when I discovered my purpose and began my path as a curator. My goal is to help people find themselves, become better, connect to the human experience, and discover their purposes through art, just as I did. I believe that anyone engaging with art, whether as a practitioner or a viewer, is closer to the truth.
As an art curator, I believe art is a necessity. If I could, I would ensure that every person in my country has access to art. Art is one of my favorite mediums for understanding and exploring the world, allowing me to learn about the human experience with all its complexities, concepts, ideas, and emotions. Through art, I find a way to process, reflect, and meditate while learning about different cultures and civilizations. I aim to bring art closer to people, make it more accessible, understandable, touching, and very true.
